Fokker D.IV

role : fighter

importance : ***

first flight : operational : November 1916

country : Germany

design : Martin Kreutzer

production : 44 aircraft

general information :

To improve on the outclassed D.I, Fokker enlarged it and re-engined it with a Mercedes D.III engine. It was the first Fokker operational aircraft using ailerons in place of wing warping from the start for roll control. Performance proved to be only little better then the D.I but still lacked manoeuvrability.
